Flashback Friday!
I'm going to try to post a flashback Friday each week or couple of weeks! However, yesterday I was studying for an exam so this is a day late. This is our little Luke recovering from his third heart surgery. They still bring tears to my eyes everytime I look at them. This was a very trying time for all of us, especially Luke. Two days after Luke was born, we were devestated to learn that he had some major heart problems which would require at least two heart surgeries to repair. He was born with an interupted aorta, a large muscular VSD, and a constricted pulmonary vein. Luke's first surgery was performed when he was only one week old where they connected his aorta. Everything went smoothly and we were able to take him home when he was two weeks old after he had recovered. When he was two months old he went in for his second heart surgery where they were going to close his VSD by using a small metal device called a cardioseal. However, this surgery unfortunately did not work. Later we were referred to an exeptional surgeon at Lucielle Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford named Dr. Frank Hanley. He performed Luke's third heart surgery succesfully. This was the final surgery that really fixed Luke's heart. The Lord has a special plan for Luke and therefore has preserved his life. We are grateful and humbled by this whole experience.

Jake and Amy, Luke is a sweet little boy and we are so glad that since his last heart surgery he has done so well. What a little miracle he is and a special boy he is!
Amy that brought tears to my eyes. I am sorry you have gone through such a rough time. You have one cute boy though! I am happy Luke and all of you are doing so well. The Lord does have a very special plan for your whole family...you are all so special!
What a rocky road for such a little guy! However, despite the difficulty it has definitely made him a strong and resilient little boy! Thanks for sharing your inspiring and touching story! Glad to see that you have joined the blog world too. Lacey Nielson
Amy, I watch your slide show. Luke is your angel. Heavenly Father must have known that he needed a mother like you. I love your blog. I'm adding you to my contacts so I can check in often.
